STRATCO is extensively dealing with new generation of roofing composites to reduce cost and improve properties. The following asphalt modifier are studied by us:
- crumb rubber (from ground scrap tires) (CRM)
- epoxy resins
- ethylene-methacrylate (EMA)
- ethylene-propylene diene monomer (EPDM)
- ethylene-vinyl-acetate (EVA)
- ethylene glycidyl acrylate terpolymer (EGA or Elvaloy)
- hybrid systems (e.g. crumb rubber and SBS)
- polyethylene (virgin and recycled)
- polypropylene (virgin and recycled)
- styrene-butadiene-styrene block copolymer (SBS - linear and radial)
- styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR)
- styrene-isoprene block copolymer (SIS)
Our roofing asphalt equipment is designed to blend fillers with asphalt cement to produce an economical asphalt roofing adhesive. It also functions as a booster heater to raise the temperature of this material.
The high dispersion mixing in the Modified Asphalt Contactorâ„¢ reactor (MAC) is achieved using the hydraulic head assembly, in conjunction with the unique internal vessel configuration, forcing the entire contents through multiple blending cycles every minute.
The MAC provides increased efficiency for roofing manufacturers by offering:
Superior dispersion of fillers
Intense mixing capability, enhancing product quality through homogeneous composition and temperature
Controlled and minimal air entrainment
More precise temperature control
Reduced energy costs through its heat transfer effectiveness
Substantially increased production capacity
Reduced maintenance costs
Increased profits
